Hardware advice: TU Laptop Project

This page is part of the Hardware Advice series

zbook15Each year during the fall semester students of the TU Delft can buy a laptop through the TU Delft laptop project. There are two models. For 2015-2016 you can either choose a HP EliteBook 745G2 Ultrabook or a HP ZBook 15G2 Workstation.

Students of the faculty of Architecture must choose the high-performance model! This is the HP ZBook 15G2 Workstation for 2015-2016.

This laptop has been specifically selected, tested and is proven to run all needed software comfortably.

EliteBook 745G2 Ultrabook

The 2015-2016 TU laptop project EliteBook 745G2 Ultrabook is not suitable for Architecture, mainly due to its lack of a dedicated graphics adapter. This model (and similar laptops) are generally not intended to be used for the types of applications we work with on a regular basis at the faculty of Architecture.

Durability and Warranty

The ZBook 15G2 features a sturdy build and comes with a 3-year warranty covering hardware failure. If anything on your computer fails within this time period you can get it repaired without any additional cost.

You’ll also have the option to get a temporary replacement laptop for the duration of the repair so you can continue working with little delay.

Summary and conclusion

At €1035 you’re presented with solid hardware at a reasonable price (its normal retail price exceeds €2000): in short, it is a safe bet and a choice that we wholeheartedly recommend.

You can read more about software for your own laptop, PC or your TU Delft laptop on the software page of this website.
