BK Renderfarm Connector 6.4.1

This release contains a fix for the BK Renderfarm Connector. In this version it is possible to render your scene(s) with Arnold, RenderMan and Mental Ray using the render farm with Maya 2018 (or older). The Adhok Texture Tools checks and if needed relocates your textures to the sourceimages folder of your Maya project.

It is required that you have installed the render engines on your computer. Arnold comes with Maya 2018. You can download RenderMan from Pixar and Mental Ray from NVIDIA.

Update 21/3/2019: Avira considers our Windows installer(s) as malicious. We believe this is a false postive. Before downloading uncheck Enable Real-Time Protection. After installation you can delete the installer and turn on Real-Time Protection in Avira.

Update 4/4/2019: It seems that Avira does not consider our Windows installer(s) as malicious anymore. Therefore, you do not need to disable Real-Time Protection before downloading.

No mail from Rhino with license information

If you tried to obtain a TU license for Rhino and you did not receive one. That could be right, because the spam filter of the TU Delft deleted those e-mails.

It is fixed now, but you have to enter your TU e-mail address again to receive the e-mail with the license information.

Somehow the mail server of McNeel has ended up in a blacklist. This means that e-mails from mcneel.com were considered as spam and automatically deleted by the spam filter. Settings have been changed to prevent this in the future.

Rhino licences available

Good news for everybody who is in desperate need for a personal license for Rhino 5 (for Mac) and Rhino 6.

Finally, TU Delft students can download Rhino 6 which comes now with Grasshopper built in. Rhino 6 is only available for Windows. Use your TU e-mail address to get Rhino 6 with a free license.

Your TU e-mail address is not your NetID@student.tudelft.nl but is in general your initials separated with dots and surname and sometimes followed by a dash and a number if you have a very common surname. If you have your TU e-mail forwarded to another (web)mail service and you still haven’t received an e-mail with your serial number, check also your SPAM folder.

Mac users will have to wait or you can install Windows on your MacBook or iMac with Boot Camp or a virtualisation application like Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox.

Boot Camp is part of macOS and is for free. Parallels Desktop and VMWare Fusion are not for free. Parallels Desktop you can buy at SURFspot with a student discount. Virtualbox is for free, but might not work very well with 3D applications like Rhino.
For Windows you will need a license which is also available at SURFspot.
